ABOUT THE STONE FOUNDATIONS TEAM

Life is about choices, not just following step-by-step processes and checklists from financial celebrities concerned more about their brands than providing choices to facilitate good decision-making.

The Stone Foundations Team helped develop and refine the Relaxed Approach to Personal Finance philosophy and the Stone Money Foundations methodology for the Facebook group "A Relaxed Approach to Personal Finance - Inspired by Dave Ramsey's Baby Steps" (the name has undergone many changes, so we won't try to keep it updated here).

We make no apologies for our criticism of Dave Ramsey and other financial celebrities. It is fair and warranted. In the Relaxed Facebook group, through Anthony Stone, we exercised a great deal of restraint when criticizing Ramsey's program, but as we discovered more and more logical fallacies and outright lies by Ramsey Personalities, we became more direct and pointed. This upset some members and Anthony Stone ultimately left the group.

We wanted a different platform where we can be free to say what needs to be said and not be worried about disrupting a community that we all worked so hard to build. We still recommend A Relaxed Approach because it's a great community moderated better than any other Ramsey-inspired group.

Following a path because you choose to is perfectly fine. Following a path because you've been intimidated, lied to, or duped is not acceptable. We want to show you the paths available to you and let you decide which ones to take.

Who are the Stone Foundations Team?

Anthony Stone

Anthony Stone represents where you can be in your life--experiencing the financial freedom you deserve--with the proper knowledge, discipline, and decision-making tools.

Anthony Stone is a prolific Facebook author with thousands of informative posts about personal finance, critical thinking, and avoidance of blind followership. As the former administrator of A Relaxed Approach to Personal Finance, Anthony educated tens of thousands of members on how to think for themselves and get out of debt. The group was so popular that it gave rise to several copycat groups.

Anthony strives to educate people on the dangers of financial celebrities. You could say Anthony Stone has multiple personalities--cordial when helping people get out of debt, nasty when financial celebrities lie, compassionate when people fall on hard times, and brutally unsympathetic and hostile toward financial celebrities who take advantage of them.

Anthony abhors bullshit as most critical thinkers do and takes every opportunity to educate people on how to detect it.

When you're on Anthony Stone's team, you're on the winning team.

Kevin P. Kilburn

Kevin is the senior writer/editor of Stone Money Foundations and is a retired U.S. Army officer with eight years of command, extensive knowledge management and teaching experience. His formal education includes a degree in electrical/electronic engineering technology and various Army schools.

Kevin leads a debt-free life, uses credit judiciously, and maintains a 820+ FICO score, which proves a FICO score is not an I-love-debt score. Kevin's teaching experience, critical and creative thinking, and focus on information and knowledge management to facilitate decision-making will help you in your journey to financial freedom.

Kevin abhors bullshit as most critical thinkers do and takes every opportunity to educate people on how to detect it. Like all members of the Stone Money Foundations team, Kevin is brutally unsympathetic toward financial celebrities who take advantage of people through manipulative tirades, overpriced "plus" programs, and demeaning treatment of people in need.

Rich Eyrish

Rich is a writer at Stone Money Foundations. He is also a retired U.S. Army officer with extensive experience in command, staff, cyberspace operations, project management, and network engineering (to name a few), and degrees in electrical engineering and telecommunications and network management.

Rich enjoys a debt-free lifestyle, uses credit judiciously, and invests wisely. His approach to analytical thinking, decision-making, and mathematics will help you get out (and stay out) of debt.

Rich abhors bullshit as most critical thinkers do and takes every opportunity to educate people on how to detect it. Rich has no tolerance for financial celebrities who use their platforms to influence people into courses of action that are detrimental to their well-being.

Math

"If you were good at math, you wouldn't be in debt." -- Dave Ramsey

All of us here on the Stone Money Foundations Team are good at math: Calculus I, II, and III; Linear Algebra; Differential Equations; Complex Variables; etc...not to mention the Engineering and Physics classes that required knowledge of that math. We're good at math and we were in debt at some point in our lives. That proves that mathematical ability has little to do with getting into debt. Life circumstances can overshadow math, so Ramsey's assertion is unfair and wrong.

We're beyond our debt now and want to make sure you understand that personal finance is a math problem, regardless of what any financial celebrity says. We emphasize understanding the psychology behind personal finance, but trusting the math to get the job done. Math is what helps disciplined adults get out of debt.

The Stone Money Foundations Team is here to teach you how to make the best decisions on how to eliminate your debt and build a strong foundations for your financial future.

A Strong Foundation is Made of Stone.

This blog is based on principles and concepts originally developed in the Facebook Group "A Relaxed Approach to Personal Finance: Inspired by Dave Ramsey's Baby Steps and The Crown Money Map" that Anthony Stone used to administer.

“A Relaxed Approach” is a philosophy of critical thinking and sound judgment used in adapting personal finance concepts to individual circumstances. Money Foundations is our refinement of that philosophy.

To be very clear, A Relaxed Approach is not “Dave Ramsey-ish” (it's not ish anything). It was inspired by Dave Ramsey's Baby Steps and The Crown Money Map, but that is the extent of the association with either.

A Relaxed Approach is not being irresponsible with money. Purposely delaying debt elimination/retirement funding or jeopardizing one's welfare because of lavish living or excuses is irresponsible financial behavior inconsistent with its principles.

Money Foundations is a branch of A Relaxed Approach, but in fairness we no longer use the name because we've left the Facebook Group.

We are not a salesman. We don't sell products. We don't sell concepts. We share our knowledge 100% free.

Relaxed should be viewed in the sense of Tai Chi or Yoga, not being asleep at the wheel and wrecking your financial future.
